GANT is the original American lifestyle brand with European sophistication, offering premium clothing, accessories and home furnishings for men, women and kids. Born in 1949 on the campuses of the American East Coast universities and raised in Europe, GANT enjoys a global presence in over 70 markets, 750 stores and 4,000 selected retailers. GANT is owned by Swiss Maus Freres S.A., which also counts Lacoste, Aigle, Tecnifibre and The Kooples to its portfolio of premium brands.
GANT has been available in China since 2004 through a network of up to 250 branded shops, and more recently on China’s largest e-commerce marketplaces. In April 2020, GANT announced its intention to acquire certain assets of its China distribution partner and relaunch the China business under a separate subsidiary of GANT AB.
This poses a major undertaking, including building from scratch a team and organization able to manage a nationwide retail network and e-commerce sales; developing a suitable IT and omni-channel environment; establishing relevant operating and financial reporting procedures, and spec a suitable China logistic framework.
To spearhead these efforts, GANT has appointed Aventura as its China launch partner. The scope of the engagement comprises four “streams”: IT infrastructure setup/ ERP scoping and design; Staffing, Recruiting & HR; Accounting & Finance; and Logistics. The objective is to build a stable organizational foundation for the relaunch of GANT in China, leveraging Aventura‘s decade of experience in China market entry and operations.
“As GANT’s China launch partner, we enjoy rolling up our sleeves and working hand-in-hand with both HQ and the emerging China team of GANT on the myriad of issues that need to be resolved in in developing a robust operating framework and procedures for the business, ensuring that GANT China is ready for relaunch early next year,” said Johan Aledal, COO of Aventura.
“GANT has a long history and strong brand awareness worldwide. Having personally followed the brand since my junior high-school years, I am excited that GANT has chosen to take full advantage Aventura’s in-house capabilities in coordinating their China relaunch,” commented Gustav Astrom, CEO of Aventura.
“We were very fortunate to enter into this partnership with Aventura. With expertise across key functional areas of our business, Aventura is providing invaluable support in executing a complex project, in particular during these challenging times. We know our brand has great potential in China, and look forward to working closely with the Aventura team in making the relaunch a success,” concluded Ylva Rantfors, Global Business Development Director of GANT.
